Transfer Credits Policy

Under the transfer policy, Land of Goshen has multiple options for transfer credits. Whether you want a career in ministry or practical training to improve your own walk with God, the Land of Goshen Institute of Theology has a program for you. All of our programs have a core of biblical and theological courses, and regardless of your calling, you will have a foundation built on God’s Word. Changing colleges and seminaries can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be an end-all. If you want to transfer in one class or an entire associate’s degree, our team is willing to consider your previous college coursework and ministerial experience. You can also send an unofficial transcript and/or ministry resume to admin@wlmi.org for a no-strings-attached review.

A student who desires to transfer credits from other institutions of higher education must furnish Land of Goshen Institute of Theology with an official transcript from each institution attended. Courses acceptable for transfer must be similar in content and quality and considered equivalent to the course. Only those credits which carry a minimum grade of C, or its equivalent will be transferred. As a rule, correspondence credits are not acceptable for a degree (there are exceptions). If the course credits come from a recognized school and our administration determines that the courses fit our standard of quality, credits may be transferred. Each student’s situation will be reviewed individually, yet equitably, to determine transferable credits.

All academic transcripts should be emailed to admin@wlmi.org, or mailed to:

Doctor of Theology (ThD) or Doctor of Philosophy in Theology (PhD)

The Doctor of Theology (ThD) and Doctor of Philosophy in Theology (PhD) program prepares teacher-scholars in interdisciplinary theological fields. The ThD program builds on expertise and training developed in approved master’s programs. The PhD degree program is offered to students wishing to enhance their knowledge and competence in teaching and research and to contribute to scholarship in a specialized area of theological studies. The PhD is a research doctorate, and requires students to give evidence of the highest standards of scholarship at every stage of the degree program. Both ThD and PhD provides individuals equipped with skills and methods appropriate to do original and responsible research, and it promotes the proficient application of sound and valid principles of biblical interpretation and historical research. Our doctoral programs offers a distinctive research focus on locating the work of theology in history and culture. Theology is at the center, but students examine other disciplines and practices. Students take courses in history, theology, and cultural studies and conduct theological research in conjunction with research methods from the humanities and social sciences.
